Sparks has spent more than 40 years delighting bluegrass audiences all over the world and has earned the admiration of fans and musicians alike. From his teenage years with Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys to his recognition as the International Bluegrass Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year in 2004 & 2005 (as well as past winner of IBMA’s Album of the Year & Recorded Event of the Year), Sparks has climbed to the pinnacle of the bluegrass world. And he’s still picking away and soaring to new heights as proved by his most recent CDs, “The Last Suit You Wear” and “I Don’t Regret a Mile”. Sparks returned to the studio in October 2009 to record a new album for early 2010 release.

Called “the most soulful man in bluegrass” by Alison Krauss, Sparks defines the meaning of “lonesome” in his singing and is recognized as one of the most dy- namic, driving guitar pickers on any stage. His unique interpretations of classics and contemporary material too, touch the hearts of all bluegrass fans — young, old and in the middle. He has produced a slew of wonderful albums featuring his bluesy, driving guitar licks and hauntingly soulful singing.
