Latest Letcher grand jury indictments name 13

The Letcher County Grand Jury has named 13 Letcher County residents in indictments. They are:

• Brett Alan Wright, 34, of Hwy 1410, Whitesburg, who is charged with first-degree fleeing/evading police on foot, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree trafficking in controlled substance (methamphetamine, two or more grams), and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Letcher County Sheriff ’s Deputy James Norris testified in the case.

• Violet Anne Sturgill, 50, also known as Violet Anne Rogers, of 50 Rogers St., Blackey, who is accused of rear license not illuminated, failure to wear seatbelt, driving on DUI suspended license (first offense), operating motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/ drugs (fourth offense within 10 years), first-degree promoting contraband, second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (Buprenorphine, a Schedule III narcotic used in drug-addiction treatment), and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (Gabapentin, a Schedule IV non-narcotic drug).

Sturgill is accused of introducing dangerous contraband into the Letcher County Jail.

• Clifton Eugene “Gino” Rednour, Jr., 42, of 1360 Pert Creek, Whitesburg, who is charged with failure to produce insurance card, failure to maintain required liability insurance/security, driving with DUI suspended license (third or subsequent offense within a 10-year period), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession/ use of drug paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle with an expired license plate.

Letcher County Sheriff ’s Deputy James Norris testified in the case.

• Brian Kevin Johnson, 37, of 147 Arlie Hall Dr., Neon, who is charged with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), first-degree possession of a controlled substance ( methamphetamine), third-degree possession of a controlled substance (Buprenorphine), possession/ use of drug paraphernalia, and possession of controlled substance not in original container.

• Melissa Ann Evans, 48, of 51 Golden Rod Dr., Thornton, who is accused of first-degree fleeing/ evading police on foot, menacing, resisting arrest, public intoxication (excludes alcohol), firstdegree disorderly conduct, and third-degree terroristic threatening.

Evans is charged with disobeying an order to stop given by Whitesburg City Police Officer Jordan Clemons and/or Letcher County Constable Austin Johnson and threatening to use physical force against Clemons and/or Johnson.

• Tommy Dean Collins, 54, of 156 Rag Weed Rd., Whitesburg, who is charged with failure to produce insurance card, failure to wear seatbelt, operating a vehicle under the influence of intoxicants (first offense), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, first offense), and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kentucky State Trooper Tyler Smith testified in the case.

• Richard Cody Stamper, 22, of 7774 North Hwy. 931, Whitesburg, whom the grand jury charges with operating a vehicle under the influence of intoxicants (second offense), operating a vehicle with an expired license, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (Oxycodone), and first-degree criminal mischief.

• Emmalene Nicole Holbrook, 33, of 909 Beaver Dam Rd., Colson, who is accused of reckless driving, operating a vehicle on suspended/ revoked license, first-degree fleeing/evading police, second-degree fleeing/evading police (on foot), failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance or security (second offense or greater), no registration receipt, improper display of registration plates, and valid license not in possession.

• Natoshia Renee Adams, 34, of P.O. Box 306, Ermine, who is charged with use/possession of drug paraphernalia and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Letcher County Sheriff’s Deputy Seth Whitaker testified in the case.

• Christopher Dane Bentley, 29, of 764 Mallard Dr., Millstone, who is accused of first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Letcher County Sheriff’s Deputy James Norris testified in the case.

• James Elkins, 39, of 169 Chip Dr., Thornton, who is charged with first-degree bail jumping for failure to appear in Letcher Circuit Court in connection with a felony charge.

Lisa Slone of the Office of the Letcher Commonwealth Attorney testified in the case.

• Jasmine N. Cornett, 25, of 230 Buster Rd., Millstone, who is charged with first-degree bail jumping for failure to appear in Letcher District Court in a pending felony proceeding.
