The Letcher Central Cougars split a pair of games on the road last week and are 1-3 heading into week three of the season. After playing at 0-1 Belfry Dec. 12, the Cougars travel to 2-3 Cordia Dec. 14 and visit 0-6 Jenkins the following night, Dec. 15.
The Cougars host June Buchanan Dec. 18.

The visiting Letcher Central Cougars suffered through shooting woes in losing 70-39 at Eastside High in Coeburn, Va., Dec. 9.
The Cougars connected on just 13 of 48 field goal attempts for 27 percent and just 12 of 21 from the charity line for 57 percent.
Senior forward Elijah Raglin’s nine points led the 1-3 Cougars. Dakota Shepherd scored eight points and pulled down nine rebounds while Greg Kincer finished with seven points. Sophomore guard Kenton Combs came off the bench to score six points. Tyler Boggs chipped in with four points and eight rebounds. Caleb Stidham added three points and Trevor Hardin wound up with two points.

The visiting Letcher Central Cougars snapped a season opening two game skid with an impressive 61-43 win over the Bobcats Dec. 5.
Led by the trio of Greg Kincer, Caleb Stidham and Elijah Raglin, the Cougars struggled offensively early but rallied in the second half to pull away for the win.
LCC, now 1-2, managed to build an 11-7 lead after the opening quarter but trailed 24-23 at the break. In the third quarter, Kincer, Stidham and Raglin dominated the Cougars’ offense and combined to score 10 of their team’s 12 points to push LCC out to a 35-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Down the stretch, Kincer and Stidham converted 7 of 9 free throws while Raglin dominated around the basket by making 4 of 6 shots. Kincer finished with a game-high 21 points and five rebounds. Stidham, a 5-7 junior guard, wound up with 17 points and six rebounds. Raglin added 16 points. Kincer, Stidham and Raglin combined to make 20 of 28 field goal attempts (71 percent) while the rest of the team finished with 3 of 17 for 18 percent. As a team, LCCHS shot 51 percent (23 of 45).
Trevor Hardin, a 6-2 junior, came off the bench to lead the Cougars with a game-high nine rebounds. He added four points. Parker Williams scored two points and junior center Tyler Boggs finished with one point and four rebounds.
Betsy Layne out-rebounded LCC 32-28 but struggled shooting from the floor (15 of 48 for 31 percent) — led by junior guard Zach Bentley’s 17 points. Grant Osborn chipped in with 10 points for the 1-3 Bobcats.
