The Letcher County Central Cougars boys’ basketball team improved their record to 12 wins against eight losses after winning games against Magoffin County at home (56 to 52) on January 28 and at Leslie County (63 to 51) on January 25.
LCC’s Gregory Kincer scored a team-high 23 points, pulled down five rebounds, and dished out four assists to lead the Cougars at Leslie County. Teammate Tyler Boggs scored 22 points and claimed a team-high nine rebounds in the game, which saw Letcher Central jump to a 22 to 11 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Also helping out on the scoring side for the Cougars were Caleb Stidham and Dylan Webb, each with six points, Parker Williams with four points, and Matthew Dicks with two points.
Tyler Boggs and Gregory Kincer also teamed up to lead the Cougars past Magoffin County, each player scoring 16 points. Caleb Stidham scored nine points, Parker Williams had five points, and Dakota Shepherd and Dylan Webb each chipped in four points. Trevor Hardin scored two points after connecting on his only field goal attempt of the night, that coming in an opening quarter that saw the Cougars fall behind 15 to 12. LCC outscored Magoffin County in the second quarter, 13 to 9, to take a 25 to 24 lead into halftime.
LCC outscored Magoffin County in the third quarter, 18 to 15, to take a 43 to 39 lead into the fourth quarter, during which both teams scored 13 points.
LCC will travel to Pike Central tomorrow night (Thursday), and will host Jenkins on Friday at 6 p.m. and Estill County on Saturday at 2 p.m.
