Letcher County Central ended its 2019 football season with a 4-7 record after a 49-7 first round playoff loss to undefeated Johnson Central.
Johnson Central received the ball to begin the game and quarterback Riley Preece scrambled for a 22-yard gain on the first play. The extra point gave the Golden Eagles an early 7-0 lead.
On third and nine, quarterback Carson Adams kept the ball for an 8-yard gain to set up a fourth and short. LCC went for it and Adams gained just enough for the first down on a quarterback sneak. The drive stalled and the Cougar punt was returned to the Johnson Central 42-yard line.
The Golden Eagles had a six-play 58-yard drive capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run by Devin Johnson on a fullback dive. The extra point sailed through the uprights to make the score 14-0.
After a three-and-out by the LCC offense, Mason Lawson broke a run up the middle for a 35-yard touchdown to increase the lead to 21-0.
Johnson Central capitalized quickly on another punt with a 56-yard touchdown pass from Preece to Dalton. The extra point was good for a 28-0 score.
On second and seven, Hunter Campbell took a pitch around the right side of the offense for a 9-yard gain and a first down. The offense couldn’t move the ball any farther and were forced to punt.
Johnson Central then went 66-yards on nine plays, scoring a touchdown on an 18-yard pass from Preece to Dalton. The extra point made it 35-0.
LCC received the ball to start the second half, but had to punt. A running clock then started after Preece scrambled for a five-yard touchdown and a 42-0 lead.
After another Johnson Central touchdown, Carson Adams gashed the defense on a quarterback draw for a 48-yard gain. Two plays later he completed a 17-yard pass to Campbell, which led to a three-yard touchdown run by Campbell to make the final score 49-7 in favor of Johnson Central.
