LCC girls off to good start

After losing their November 29 season-opening game to South Laurel, 72-55, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars bounced back with three straight wins at Mountain Mission in Grundy, Virginia on December 1, at Lexington Tates Creek on December 4, and at Johnson Central on December 6.

Tori Holcomb scored 14 points and No. 12 Kaylee Banks added 11 points in LCC’s loss to South Laurel. Also scoring were Keira Couch (9 points), No. 25 Kaylee Banks (6), Loren Boggs (5), Jaylin Whitt (4), Heidi Bentley (4), and Bailey Kincer (2).

In the win over Mountain Mission, Kaylee Banks (No. 12) scored 24 points and Loren Boggs added 17 points to lead the Lady Cougars. Also scoring in double figures were Keira Couch (14) and Jaylin Whitt (12). Tori Holcomb and Kaylee Banks (No. 25) scored seven and five points, respectively.

In their win at Tates Creek, the Lady Cougars were led by Keira Couch’s 26 points and 15 points from Kaylee Banks (No. 12). Loren Boggs scored eight points, Bailey Kincer had five points, and Tori Holcomb had three points.

Jaylen Whitt led all LCC rebounders with 11.

Game statistics were not available for Monday night’s win over Johnson City were not available at press time.

LCC is scheduled to visit Cordia Thursday at 7:30 p.m., followed by a home game against Pike County Central on Friday, also at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Lady Cougars will travel to South Laurel High School for a game against. They will play at home against Harlan on December 16.
