LCC soccer report

Letcher County Central’s boys’ and girls’ soccer teams stumbled slightly for the first time this season last week after both teams opened the year in strong fashion.

The boys’ soccer team stands at 3-1-1 on the season after defeating Shelby Valley, 6 to 3 on Aug. 27, tying Belfry 1 to 1 on Aug. 28, and falling to Oneida Baptist Institute, 2 to 4, on Aug. 30. All three matches were played at Ermine.

In their win over Shelby Valley, the Cougars were led by two goals each from Zack Dollarhyde and Bobby Sexton, and one goal each from Dylan Bentley and Joseph Campbell. Dollarhyde had the team’s only goal against Belfry, and accounted for both of his team’s goals in the loss to Oneida Baptist.

The LCC girls’ team fell to 1-1-1 on the season after a 2 to 2 tie with Shelby Valley onAug.27anda5to1 loss against Belfry on Aug. 28. Statistics for the girls’ matches were not available.
