LCCHS book drive

The Student Government at Letcher County Central High School is hosting a book drive called “Pages for Patriots” for soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.

Collected books, videogames and DVDs will be sent to Army stations in Afghanistan to create a “library” for soldiers. The donations can be new or used. Cassity Riff e, LCCHS student body president, said soldiers have limited means of entertainment when they are not working and have limited access to the Internet. Riffe said by sending books, videogames, and DVDs to the stationed soldiers, LCCHS students are hoping to expand their means of entertainment.

“We wanted to do something to distract them and make them feel closer to home,” said Riff e.

Money donations will also be accepted to help aid in the shipping of the items. The book drive ends Nov. 15.

Drop off books, videogames, and DVDs at LCCHS.
