LCCHS Lady Cougars have winning season

The Letcher County Central High School Lady Cougars soccer team finished the season with a record of 22-1.

The team was undefeated until the championship game of the 16th Region, and claimed its third straight 32nd District title. The 32nd District consists of LCC, Perry County Central, Hazard, Buckhorn, and Jackson City.

The varsity roster for the Lady Cougars was senior Hillary Boggs; juniors Arianna Collins, Lindsey Kincer, Erica Adams, Erica Meade, Kyli Breeding, Jasmine Glispie and Brandi Porter; sophomore Auberney Campbell; and freshmen Meg Raleigh, Brooke Kincer, Megan Sizemore, and Kelsie Cornett. Middle school students who played in junior varsity games were Carli Combs, Courtney Venters, Destiny Sturgill, Lindsey Williams, Savannah Hampton, Tory Ison, and Lauren Noble. The team is coached by Greg Collins.

The Lady Cougars scored 154 goals this season to lead the state, the second most in state history. They only allowed 13 goals scored against them. The 22 consecutive wins is fourth best in state history, and 10th all-time for wins in a season. Letcher County had 16 shut-outs, which is seventh all time in a season.

Goal keeper Jasmine Glispie played in 22 games with 15 shut-outs, number one in the state. Arianna Collins led the state in scoring with 69 goals in 23 games, and also led the state with 45 assists. Lindsey Kincer was fourth in the state with 45 goals in 23 games. Erica Meade was sixth in the state with 22 assists in 20 games, and Lindsey Kincer was ninth with 19 in 23 games.

Arianna Collins broke three state records, most consecutive games multiple goals scored, most assists for the season, and most consecutive games assists. She is also second all-time in three other records.

Making the 32nd All District Team were Meg Raleigh, Brooke Kincer, Brandi Porter, Hillary Boggs, and Arianna Collins. On the 16th All Region Tournament Team were Arianna Collins, Erica Adams, Auberney Campbell, Erica Meade, and Lindsey Kincer. Lindsey Kincer and Arianna Collins were named to the first 16th All Region Team while Auberney Campbell, Erica Meade, and Erica Adams were named to the second 16th All Region Team.
