The Letcher County High School speech team won the third place sweepstakes award recently at regional competition.
In its second year of competing, the speech team will compete at the state competition at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green March 10 through 12. Two students will compete in three categories and three students will compete in two categories.
Students advancing to state competition and their categories are:
Matt Boggs, broadcasting; Mychaela Richardson, dramatic interpretation; Drew Raleigh, humorous interpretation; Joshua Stephens, humorous interpretation;
Erica Webb, prose interpretation; Cassie Riffe, prose interpretation; Sean Potter, poetry; Drew Raleigh and Isaac, improv duo; Sean Potter and Cassie Riffe, improv duo; and Erica Webb and Joshua Stephens, improv duo.
