LCCHS student completes Rogers Scholars program

ROGERS SCHOLAR — Andi Fields, a student at Letcher County Central High School, receives a plaque recognizing her completion of the Rogers Scholars program.

Letcher County Central High School student Andi Fields has completed the Rogers Scholars program at the Center for Rural Development.

Lonnie Lawson, president and CEO of the Center, presented Fields with a certifi cate recognizing her accomplishment at an awards ceremony and graduation service July 16 at The Center in Somerset.

Fields, 16, was among 37 high school students from southern and eastern Kentucky to attend the program this summer.

“My experience at the Rogers Scholars program was completely amazing,” Fields said. “I spent the vast majority of my time making friends and growing as a person.”

Rogers Scholars emphasizes the development of technological and leadership skills and entrepreneurship. Each graduate will receive a college scholarship offer from 14 colleges and universities in Kentucky, and a university in Tennessee.

Fields is the daughter of Andy and Vicky Fields of Jeremiah.
