LEARNING EMPATHY

LEARNING EMPATHY — Letcher County student Tildon Johnson wore an “empathy belly” during nurse practitioner Carrie Hall’s midwifery session, which was part of the ongoing Health Careers Enrichment Camp held at the University of Kentucky Center for Excellence in Rural Health-Hazard. During the class, students learned about the stages of pregnancy, as well as labor and delivery. The purpose of the camp, now in its third year, is to educate students about health care occupations and inspire more young people to pursue health care careers.
