Vacation Bible School Boomerang Express will be held at the Carcassonne New Covent Ministries on June 11 through June 15 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Buses will run over here on Carcassonne to Wayne Caudill’s store at Blackey at about 5:15. On Friday night there will a dinner and inflatables for everyone. If anyone needs more info, please call Sue Jent at 606-633-3865.

Also on June 23 the church youth group will be having a youth rally at the church from 5 p.m. till 10 p.m. All drama teams and youth groups are welcome. Virgil Combs got to come home from the Pikeville hospital on Thursday. He had been in for awhile and had a rough time.

Happy anniversary to my husband Lee Roy. It was our 28th on June 9.

My uncle and cousin, Dorse, Brandie and Sarah Back of Elk Creek, left on Saturday morning to go to Columbus, Ind., to visit with my late uncle Tommy Back’s family. They spent the weekend there and had a good trip.

All my family went to the festival at the Campbell’s Branch Community Center on Saturday. We got to show off our new two-week-old grandbaby Kennadie Combs. The kids had a good time, then we came to my house had a cookout and built a fire and made smores. It was a nice day and I loved the weather, not hot but cool.

There will be a benefit show held for Andrew Allen Brady Reynolds of Isom on June 30 at the Campbell’s Branch Community center from 10 a.m. 8 p.m. to raise money for treatments for Brady. He has a rare blood disorder called chronic netropenia. I’ll be putting in my column every time I have news everyone please come out and help.

Josh and Jenna Shaffer Watts celebrated their 12th anniversary on June 3.

Lorene Halcomb, formerly of Carcassonne, was in over the weekend from Tallassee, Ala., to see her daughters Brenda Halcomb and Lynn Wright. On Saturday they had a dinner and Lorene’s sisters, Imojean Combs from Acup and Aileen Couch from Colson, and her brother, Fred Slone and his wife Charlene from Harlan, along with Mae Fugate of Carcassonne spent the day with them. Lorene has bad breathing problems but was doing some better. She went back home on Monday.

Happy anniversary to Jason and Jessica Caudill of Blackey. It was their fifth on June 2. They have a baby girl, Charleigh, who was born in December.
