NOTICE OF INTENTION
TO MINE
Pursuant to Application Number 867-0538,
Renewal
In accordance with KRS 350.55, notice is hereby
given that Deane Mining LLC, P.O. Box 4312,
Pikeville, Kentucky 41502 has applied for renewal
of a permit for a surface and auger/highwall mining
operation located 0.57 miles northwest of Deane
in Letcher County. The proposed operation will
disturb 358.0 surface acres and 125.9 acres auger/ highwall mining of which 55.8 acres underlie
surface acres and are not included in the total
acres. The total area within the permit boundary
will be 428.1 acres.
The operation is approximately 0.47 miles northwest from KY 7’s junction with KY 317 and located
on Razorblade Branch. The latitude is 37-14-20.
The longitude is 82-46-52.
The operation is located on the Mayking and Kite
U.S.G.S. 7 1/2 minute quadrangle maps. The
surface area to be disturbed is owned by Reserve
Holdings, LLC.
The application has been filed for public inspection
at the Department for Surface Mining Reclamation
and Enforcement’s Hazard Regional Office, 556
Village Lane, Hazard, Kentucky 41701. Written
comments, objections, or requests for a permit
conference must be filed with the Director, Division of Permits, 300 Sower Boulevard, Frankfort,
Kentucky 40601.

BLASTING SCHEDULE
This is notice that Raven Energy, Inc., 282 Straight
Fork Road, Cornettsville, KY 41731, Phone (606)
422-4987, Permit No. 867-0509, will be blasting
0.02 miles east of Sandlick Creek, Latitude 37
08’ 35””, Longitude 82 49’ 17”. Blasting will be
done daily. No blasting will be conducted before
sunrise or after sunset. At least 10 minutes before
the blast, access to the area will be controlled by
company personnel. Before each blast, is detonated the following type(s) of audible warning will
be given: WARNING SIGNAL — A one (1) minute
series of long blasts five (5) minutes prior to the
blast signal; BLAST SIGNAL — A series of short
blasts one (1) minute prior to detonation; ALL
CLEAR SIGNAL — A prolonged blast following
the inspection of the blast area.
Blasting will not be conducted at times different
from those given above except in emergency situations where rain, lighting, or other atmospheric
conditions, or operator or public safety requires
unscheduled detonation. Prior to these detonations, the following audible warning will be given:
WARNING SIGNAL — A one (1) minute series of
long blasts five (5) minutes prior to the blast signal;
BLAST SIGNAL — A series of short blasts one (1)
minute prior to detonation; ALL CLEAR SIGNAL —
A prolonged blast following the inspection of the
blast area. Also prior to detonation in emergency
situations, the permittee, using audible signal,
shall notify all persons within one half (1/2) mile
of the blasting site.
