Letcher County at top in child support work

The Letcher County Child Support Program, under the direction of Letcher County Attorney Harold Bolling, was ranked number one in overall performance in the 13- county Eastern Mountain Region and number 26 in overall performance statewide for the 2008-09 state fiscal year.

The overall state ranking is based on each county’s performance in establishing paternity and child support court orders, the collection of current child support owed, and the collection of past-due child support owed.

Statistics released recently show the Letcher County program collected a total of $2,573,364 in child support for Letcher County families during the 2008-09 fiscal year. This was a return of $10.34 for every dollar the state spent on the Letcher County program, and was the highest cost efficiency ratio for the Eastern Mountain Region.

In addition to Bolling, the child support team employees are: Monica Adams, Barbara Belcher, Heather Day, Shirley Fields, Amy Gosnell and Assistant County Attorney Frank Riley, III.
