Hello again. As I write this I am sitting at the patio table, enjoying the sunshine. It almost scared me this morning when I saw it, I’m so used to the gloomy, rainy mornings.
Seriously, it is beautiful and makes the flowers and bushes just pop at you. Can there be any place on Earth as pretty as our own Kentucky?
Belated Mother’s Day wishes to all you ladies out there. Hope you did something fun with your family. Hold your family close; they are all you have.
I lost a longtime friend Friday, Bobby Bishop from Virginia. I’ve danced with him at the County Cabin in Norton for more than 25 years. He loved to dance and sing karaoke. Bobby, you will be missed.
Belated birthday wishes to Eugene Day. He was 90 years old. Eugene is a very nice man who has always been a good friend to all.
Marie Boyd called to tell me about some birthdays in her family. She wants to wish her daughter, Phyliss Filcox, a happy birthday on the 22nd, and Dennis Filcox (Marie’s son-in-law) on the 20th. Also, she wants to wish her sister, Shirley Howard a good birthday on the 24th. Have a good day, all of you.
On the 11th Letcher Manor had a cookout for their residents and the elderly. We had a lot of fun. Thank you to the staff for all the hard work they put in, and especially to the volunteers for the dunk tank. They were very good sports.
MayFest had a very cool evening, but at least it wasn’t raining. Despite the chill, the music was good, the conversation lively, and laughter was plentiful. All in all, a good time.
I’ve heard the play practice at Cowan Community Center is going well. If the enthusiasm of the group is any indication, it should be a great play. Will be sure and let you know the times when I get them.
It was so nice to talk with Darrell Holbrook. Such a nice man. Always a smile.
Hope everyone’s garden hasn’t drowned. Mine seems to be faring fine.
Got to go and get this to the office. Call me with your news. Until next time, keep on smiling.
