Lewis rites held

William David “Bill” Lewis, 66, of Partridge died June 25 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital following a brief illness.

Born at Lynch, he was a retired coal miner and heavy equipment operator, and had worked more than 20 years with Arch Coal and U.S. Steel. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 7425 and Fields Lodge F&AM 832.

He was a son of the late Arnold and Mary Kate Jenkins Lewis, and was a brother of the late Richard Arnold “Archie” Lewis and Janie Watts.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Lewis; two daughters, Vicki Boggs and husband Greg, Partridge, and Cathy Boggs and husband Keith, Big Cowan; five grandchildren, Chris Boggs and wife Chasity, Beth Eldridge and husband Chuck, Jessie Boggs, Hannah Boggs, and Keith Boggs; a greatgrandchild, Bo Eldridge; two brothers, Buddy Lewis, Lexington, and Wayne Barker and wife Lisa, Cumberland; a sister, Barbara Sprouse and husband Paul, Bowling Green; and a brother-in-law, Thom Watts.

Funeral services were held June 28. Burial was in the Lewis family cemetery in Cumberland.
