Lewis rites held

Wallace Lewis, 58, of Gordon died January 8 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born in Letcher County, he was son of the late Astor and Rosa Boggs Lewis. He was a brother of the late Maurice Lewis and Darrell Lewis.

Lewis was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired coal miner, and a member of Nolan Lodge F & AM 806. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Cumberland.

Surviving are his wife, Yvonne Cress Lewis; two sons, Wally Joe Lewis of Gordon, Daniel Lynn Lewis and wife Amanda of Lynch; two brothers, James Edward Lewis and Dale Lewis, both of Gordon; five sisters, Joyce Lawson of Cannon; Janice Cornett, Estelle Gilliam, and Lutrella Cornett, all of Gordon; and Norma Jean Honeycutt of Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Funeral services were held January 10. Burial was in Lewis family cemetery at Gordon.
