Library hosts activities

Several activities are taking place at the Harry M. Caudill Memorial Library in Whitesburg.

For those who made resolutions in 2008 to be physically fit, healthy, and lose extra pounds, a Weight Watchers meeting is held at the library every Monday at 5 p.m. In addition, the Whitaker Bank group does aerobics Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and the Community Trust Bank group meets for step aerobics on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m.

The support group of Narcotics Anonymous meets at the library every Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m.

Every third Friday is movie night at the library, and at 6 p.m., Feb. 15, “The Game Plan” will be shown. The movie is rated PG and is free to the public. Popcorn and drinks may be purchased at the door.

For the musically inclined, Brian Adams will teach guitar lessons at the library on Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m. beginning March 3. Enrollment is limited to 10, so reserve a spot early.

A hands-on class in quilting and sewing is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, taught by Fay Shepard of Faye’s Sewing Center. She will provide the fabric, template and design to finish a quilt square for $15. The class is limited to 10 participants.

Mountains of Scraps will host a scrapbooking workshop from 6 to 7 p.m., Feb. 26. All materials will be provided for a fee of $15. By the end of the session, a complete scrapbook will be finished. Participants should bring photos to the session.

Refreshments will be served at the quilting and scrapbooking workshops.
