Life of Oma Smith to be celebrated

To celebrate the life of Oma Smith, there will be a gathering of family and friends at noon on Thursday, May 25, at The Pine Mountain Grill in Whitesburg.

Lee Oma McCloud Smith died on March 19 at Town Center in Avon Lake, Ohio.

Mrs. Smith, abundantly kind and giving, was truly the epitome of gentleness and graciousness. She always put forth others’ needs before her own. She will also be remembered for her devotion to family, her sunny disposition, quick wit, and fabulous cooking.

Born June 7, 1920 to the late William R. “Bear” and Ollie Nolan McCloud of Millstone, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Onas “Smitty” or “Pop” B. Smith of Mallie; four brothers, Haywood McCloud, Arvis McCloud, Roscoe Mc- Cloud and Troy McCloud; and two sisters, Dora Thomas and Molene Greer.

Surviving are her devoted children, Lorene and Jerry Udovich of Avon Lake, Oh., Gary Smith of Elizabethtown, Sylvia Smith and Roger Kroll of Knoxville, Tenn., and Norma and Larry Smith of Louisville.

Also surviving is her sister- in- law, Lucille Combs of Mallie, and her grandchildren, Danelle Udovich of Lorain, Oh., Wynne Kreps of Medina, Oh., Kim Hickey of Bardstown, Brian Smith of Elizabethtown, Michael Smith of LaGrange, and Christy Smith of N. Ridgeville, Oh.

There are many surviving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will also mourn her loss.

Burial was next to her husband at the B. Smith Cemetery, Burgeys Creek Rd., Mallie.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
