Merry Christmas in July! How many are enjoying Hallmark Christmas movies? Although I’ve seen almost all, I would rather watch the movies than some of the junk that is on television. We have over 100 channels, and I think there are two or three I watch.

There’s one movie in particular that I saw seven years ago that I really enjoy, Snowed Inn Christmas.

The movie is filmed in Santa Claus, Ind., and the scenery is beautiful. The movie holds my attention for the simple fact that many years ago, my brother-in-law Don and Margie Ballard, along with Jack and me and our kids, decided to take a weekend road trip. Our adventure ended at Santa Claus, Ind.

It was in warm weather, but they had so many Christmas decorations and buildings decorated, along with gift shops, but Santa was missing. Of course we made plans to go back which never happened. That was almost 49 years ago.

The movie brought back so many good memories. I finally found it on the computer, and this past week my daughter Kay Gray ordered it for me. Now if I can figure out how to use my VCR.

As I start this column once again I can see the fresh green grass of the huge hayfield in front of me. The hillside is filled with so many shades of green it is as if God chose different colors of green precisely to make this view.

If it is raining in your area, I hope you are staying dry. If it is unseasonally hot, I hope you are staying cool. This has been one of the most unusual times I can remember.

This little corner of the Ohio Valley area sure has been hit with several severe thunderstorms with dangerous bolts of lightning. Vickie Power lives about a mile from me, and her brother Dale Stanley had a surprise in store as lightning hit a tree, sending it crashing through his windshield. The last I heard he was waiting for the insurance to come. Vickie lives in a mobile home so it could have been so much worse.

We’ve had a few days with temperatures reaching in the 90’s, and so much rain causing flash flooding. At least we haven’t experienced the things that have happened in other states and countries.

JAMESON DAY

JAMESON DAY

I’m finding out one thing, not to make plans as things in life has a way of happening.

If things had worked out I would have been in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, the place I call home in my heart. Oh well, if God is willing I will be there before long. There are just too many things going on for me to complain about trivial things.

There is something I neglected to put in my column a couple of weeks ago. Since the coronavirus restrictions that stopped most from traveling or families getting together have been finally been lifted, Tim Day, his twin sister Kim and their dad, Hayward Day, went on an adventure that was so enjoyable for all.

They spent several days touring so many places that I don’t remember all that Hayward told me about, including spending time at Andy Griffith Museum in Mt. Airy, N.C. Hayward and Kim enjoyed the trip immensely, as they traveled through the Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge Tenn., on through to Cherokee, N.C.

If anyone needs proof of the definition of a word called love, all they have to do is be around this family. A couple of years ago Hayward went through a horrible health issue. I never thought he would survive, much less be able to drive and to travel.

There’s so much heartbreak right now, it is good to share some happiness.

Each time I stop by Johnny and Ann Calihan’s, if Johnny is sitting on the front porch it reminds me what a great God we have, as that is another example of what prayers will do.

Just a couple of weeks before Christmas Johnny had been placed in hospice, and now he is able to walk outside to enjoy sitting on the porch and is able to do so much for himself it is amazing. Please keep Johnny and Ann in your prayers

I miss Ike Adams’s column showing up each week in my email. Ike sent me some baby bean seeds and they are starting to bloom. I hope I get enough to save seeds for years to come.

Hello to Buddy and Bernice Grubb. I can’t forget to add Mike also. Mike, your arms are going to get tired as you owe me so many hugs.

Les and Pat Wagner, I will try to be in touch with you when Tony Hale & Blackwater perform at Haddix Hall.

Hello Tommy Tindell, I was hoping I would be in the mountains and I had planned on visiting you. It won’t be long until you will get a visit from Pricie.

There’s something I have to take care of, so until next time.
