Lightning damages homes at Carcassonne

Blackey

Congratulations to Dee and Adam Roark of Carcassonne on the birth of their first child. Camryn Faith Roark was born in Pikeville on June 11. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long. She had some complications and didn’t get to come home until the 19th but she is doing well now. I saw pictures and she is a beauty. Her grandparents are Mike and Vicki Sammons of Knott County, and Warren and Gail Roark of Carcassonne.

Samantha Leanna Rose Slone of Isom and Aaron Tristan Niece of Red Star were married at the Calvary Temple Church of God at Sandlick on June 20. It was a really nice ceremony. I wish them the best of luck.

There will be a singing benefit for a cancer patient held on Saturday, June 27, starting at 7 p.m. at the Blackey Missionary Baptist Church. The group Free Indeed will be performing. Everyone is welcome.

Last week when we had one of those big thunderstorms, B.J. and Shanna Adams, Jonny and Karen Henrikson, Mae and Robbie Fugate, all of Carcassone, had their homes struck by lightning. They lost TVs and computers, had doors busted, and small fires in their homes, and a tree was hit at the Carcassonne Community Center. All these homes are next to the school. Everyone was just glad no one was hurt.

The Anna and Hendricks Dixon Caudill reunion will be held at the Carcassonne Community Center on Saturday, June 27, starting at 10 a.m., with registration and greetings at 10:30 a.m. From 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. will be mix and mingle, and from 11 a.m. to noon recognition of family. This will be for photo ops, storytelling, and sharing of photos and then at 12 p.m. will be lunch and fellowship. Please bring a covered dish and photos to share. For more information, call Barney Back at (606) 633-5256, Katrina Back at (606) 633-0366, or Ann Lori at (606) 633-8379.

Linda Jones of Caudills Branch is in a hospital in Lexington. She fell and got an infection that went through her body. Hopefully she will get to come home soon.

Happy birthday to Roland Brown of Whitesburg. It was on June 23.
