A TVS Cable lineman is dead and another was seriously injured after being shocked by a live power line near Isom.
The injured worker was flown out for treatment of an electrocution injury.
The 911 Center at Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received the call about 5:12 p.m. Tuesday to respond with Emergency Medical Services to 37 Buttery Drive on Little Colley.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Matt Gayheart, public information officer for the Hazard Post, said one worker was climbing utility pole while the other was holding a wire on the ground. Somehow, power crossed over from the live power line to the cable being held by the man on the ground, killing him instantly. The lineman on the pole was seriously injured and rescue workers were unable to reach him until power company employees were able to arrive and cut the power.
Power was turned off to most of the Isom area to facilitate the rescue.
The names of the workers was not released pending notification of their families.
