Little Edna Church has good meeting

Northeast Ohio

Howdy, howdy, howdy. It’s a sunny day here and a bit warmer than it has been. Somehow sunshine makes one feel pretty good. It could be because it makes springtime a bit closer.

Red and I went to Little Edna Church even though it was a cold, windy, blustery day. We had a good meeting as usual and some pretty singing. I saw Denver Meade. He said Sue was home now but still in a lot of pain. It will be two or three months before she gets back to normal.

I finally found out where they were and it wasn’t Kentucky or West Virginia, they were with their son in Salem. Sue, I do hope you mend real quick and not have too much pain. Love and prayers.

Well, I started this column and got company, so I just put it aside and never got back to it. Today is some warmer, and supposed to go up to 50 degrees, and I’m not complaining. I’d even settle for 60 or 70.

Jennifer and her family got moved into their new home and we’ve all been busy gathering up things she will need and can use. With six children that can be most anything. We’ve given her two quilts and I have some sheets and pillowcases for her and still haven’t gotten around to towels and washcloths.

I’ve been busy today. I went shopping have done shirts off and on all day and just finished them a short while ago.

Catharine traded her day off with a co-worker and therefore she’s off today. I don’t know what time she will stop by to pick this up, so I decided I’d better finish even though I’m needing my daily nap in the worst way. I also wanted to bake some cupcakes. Maybe later.

Red had a bad day and night yesterday but feels some better today. He’s been having a lot of trouble with his legs. They both swell but the right one never goes down and sometimes it is so tight it seems as though the skin will split. He don’t never give up though, he’s one of them there tough mountain boys.

Hello to all my good friends and buddies. I know I have said I would write and I did get a very few letters in the mail, but just when I think I’ve got lots of time something happens.

Did I mention that Elizabeth was in St. John’s Westshore Hospital a few days with pneumonia? She’s home now and doing OK.

I’ve been trying to work on a quilt some every day, and I have a lot done on it but still have a lot to do. I need to finish it by the middle of April, and I’m thinking I will. I have another one started but have put it aside for now.

Several have called or asked about the Engle- Sergent Picnic. It will be on Sunday, August 16, at Hill Top Park in Elyria, Ohio, from noon to dark. Be looking for y’all.

The Letcher County Picnic will be the first Saturday in September, and starts at 1 p.m. I hope we have a good crowd, but most of all I hope the weather will be better than last year.

It was a cold, rainy, windy day but we still had a good crowd and a good time even though all we did was eat and talk, and there was lots of laughter. Isn’t that the way it is whenever a bunch of hillbillies get together? Hope no one takes offense to being called a hillbilly, I’m one and proud of it. And on that note I will say so long until next week, same time, same place. In the meantime be happy, stay well and think sunshine. Love and prayers.
