‘Little Shepherd’ to open

A revival of the outdoor drama “The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come” will open June 18 at the newly built Little Shepherd Amphitheatre in Jenkins. Show dates are June 18, 20, 27; July 4, 11, 18, 25; and August 1, 15, 22, 29. The last show for the year will be Sept. 5.

The drama is based on the John Fox Jr. novel about the Civil War in Kentucky. The book, published in 1906, has never been out of print and has been made into at least two movies, including a full-color saga released in 1961. The stage play was written by Fern Overbey Hilton of Kingsport, Tenn. Hilton, in addition to being a playwright, is a journalist and author of a book on World War II military trials, “The Dachau Defendants”.

Tickets to the “Little Shepherd” are $11 for adults, $9 for senior citizens, and $7 for children ages 7- 16. There is no charge for children under the age of 6. Arrangements for buses, church groups, and other large numbers may be made by calling (606) 832- 1453.
