Long, hard road for Wesley Dixon

My heart just breaks for the family of Wesley Dixon of Carcassonne. He died on June 27. He was so sick and not doing well for a long time. He was the son of John and Jenny Dixon. He was only 7. He had been sick for so long with his breathing and having seizures. He was in hospice care in Hazard. My sympathy to all of his family.

Wesley was born with lissencephaly and it’s been a long hard road for him and his family. He couldn’t have had a better family. They were always by his side.

Jonny, Tekoa, Taylor, Jackson and I went to Tampa, Fla., last week and stayed with some good friends while we were there. Tekoa celebrated her 12th birthday on the 25th with a day of shopping! It was Jackson’s first real vacation and his first time of seeing the ocean! Karen said they had a great time.

Last week, Gary and Becky Pridemore and Hope Campbell of Ulvah, Kelly, Hope and Lexi Jordan of Lexington, Kristy and Trace Lovell of Virginia, and Charlene “Chat” Dixon went to Folly Beach, S.C. Becky showed a picture on Facebook of a dinner of fresh seafood they cooked. It was crab legs, corn on the cob, potatoes and shrimp. It looked so good. She said she hated for it to end.

Happy birthday to Pauline Smith of Jeremiah. She turned 9 on June 25. She is the daughter of Keith and Laura Smith.

Happy anniversary to Eddie and Michelle Caudill of Red Star. It was their 19th on June 25.

Happy birthday to Mark Nichols of Doty Creek. It was on June 26. Kristen Griffie of Letcher had a birthday on the 28th. Rebecca Kincaid Miller of Blackey, June Breeding Mullins of Isom, and Pam Pack of Whitesburg, were all on June 29.

My neighbors Adam and Misty Henrikson have had a bear for the last couple of days. He sure made a mess with the garbage, but once it was all gone he is too. Hope he isn’t heading my way.

Happy birthday to Damian Miller of Blackey. It is on July 6.

Craig Frazier of Florida, drove in on Saturday to stay with his mother Ann (Annie Granny) of Knott County for a week. He also is getting family and friends together during the week and doing some repairs on her house. He was going back Saturday.

Happy Fourth to all my family and friends and I hope everyone stays safe. My family is getting together on Saturday, the 6th, for our celebration here at my home. We always have a lot of family and friends, good food, great fireworks, and a lot of fun.

Will Caudill and Route 7 will be performing on July 4 at 6 p.m. at the Calvary College campus and on July 5 at the Hemphill Community Center. Everyone is welcome. Come out and enjoy music and dancing.
