LONGTIME FAN

— Kristi Dixon (right) of Blackey daughter of Teresa and Danny Dixon of Cornettsville, is pictured with Betty Lynn, the now 92-year-old actress who portrayed the character of Thelma Lou on “The Andy Griffith Show.” Ms. Lynn now resides in Mt. Airy, N.C., the actual hometown of Andy Griffith and a town that Griffith used loosely as a model for the fictional town of Mayberry. Ms. Dixon, a longtime fan of the show and its actors and actresses, recently traveled to Mt. Airy to meet Ms. Lynn in person at The Andy Griffith Museum. She took with her a framed copy of a poem that she had written for Ms. Lynn, entitled “An Old Friend”. When Ms. Dixon read the poem aloud to her, Ms. Lynn was moved to tears.
