Loren Field succumbs at 85




Funeral services for Loren Fields, 85, of Charlestown, Ind., were held August 5 in Charlestown. Burial was in the Charlestown Cemetery.

A son of the late Noah and Mary Eldridge Fields and the widower of Vivian Fields, he was born in Letcher County. He died July 31 at Kindred Rolling Hills Healthcare in New Albany, Ind.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Kelsey Fields, Carl Fields and Elmo Fields.

Mr. Fields was a retired mechanic for the I.C.I. plant in Charlestown, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Chester Hogg Regular Baptist Church, Blazing Star Masonic Lodge #226 and Blazing Bright Order of the Eastern Star #597.

Surviving are a daughter, Sibyle Denise Fields of Charlestown; sisters, Eunice Frazier and Elsie Day, both of Charlestown, Vivian Frazier of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Opal Boggs, Alma Tindle, Bonnie Frazier and Nova Adams, all of Whitesburg; a special niece, Karen Hall; and special nephews, Rodney Hall, Chad Hall, Wyatt Hall, Warren Hall, Ricky Day and Denny Van.
