Lura Jane Bright dies in Tennessee



Lura ‘Janie’ Bright, 60, died April 28 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, Tenn., after a long illness.

A daughter of the late James L. and Leona Craft Wright, she was the widow of Jim Bright, and a sister of the late Margaret Adams.

She was formerly employed by Letcher County Farm Bureau Insurance Company in Whitesburg, and was a member of the McRoberts Old Regular Baptist Church, the Eastern Star and the White Shrine.

Surviving are four sisters, Jimmy ‘Kay’ Kathleen Adkins of Kent, Oh., Polly Wright Brittrich of Jenkins, ‘Glenna’ Theresa Matney of Brandenburg, and Sheila Fay Wright of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three brothers, Thomas Gene Wright of Cromona, John A. Wright and Jesse W. Wright, both of Payne Gap; her goddaughter, Jessica Wright; and her namesake, Charley Jane Epling Wright.

Funeral services were held May 1 in Pound, Va. Burial was in Payne Gap Memorial Gardens.
