Luther Combs buried at Isom

Funeral services for Luther David Combs, 82, were held October 13 at Everidge Funeral Home. Burial was in the Caudill Cemetery at Isom.

A son of the late John D. and Dessie Sexton Combs, he was born in Isom. He died October 11 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Mr. Combs was the widower of Gertrude Caudill Combs. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Kiser, and two brothers, Earl Combs and Denver Combs.

He was a member and deacon of Tolson Creek Old Regular Baptist Church, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are three sons, Charlie D. Combs and wife Vivian and Phillip Combs and wife Tammy, all of Isom, and Randy Combs and wife Amy of Whitesburg; five daughters, Marie Hessman of Isom, Shirley Combs Fields of Panama City, Fla., Mindy Combs and husband Jeff of Whitesburg, June Bailey and husband Stephen of Isom, and Linda Combs Barrow and husband Shannon of Pensacola, Fla.; four brothers, Edmond Combs of Colson, John D. Combs of Isom, Ernest Combs of Colson, and Troy C. Combs of Cynthiana; three sisters, Wanda Rose Collins of Knott County, and Heneretta Caudill and Letta Mae Hammons, both of Isom; 10 grandchildren, Tonya Baker, Pam Frohnapfel, Savannah Fields, Tyler Thacker, Izabella Fields, Chelsie Combs, Zoe Bailey, Dawson Combs, Addison Combs, and Victoria Watts; and four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Baker, Hannah Baker, Maddi Frohnapfel, and Laurali Long.
