Lynchs visited by a furry creature

Blair Branch

Hello all. I hope this finds each of you happy and healthy. Michael, the boys, and I are doing okay. I’ve been battling allergies, but otherwise we are all as fine as frog’s hair. We’ve been trying to make the most of these hot summer days, and the boys love cooling off in the pool or at the beach.

Even though I’m a couple days early, happy Independence Day! I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday.

Mom and Dad, Allen and Sylvania Whitaker, have had a few health issues recently, but are okay for the most part. Mom underwent testing and found out she does have another tumor on her parathyroid. She will see a specialist soon to determine if she will need surgery. She had one removed years ago when I was still living at home. Thankfully, so far, it hasn’t damaged her kidney.

Dad has had a sore on his foot, and he is a diabetic, but the doctor said it has healed up. Thank God. He had some tests run to see how much blood flow is in his feet, but hasn’t heard the results yet.

Speaking of Daddy . . . he has a birthday coming up on July 5. He will be 72 years young. Happy birthday, Daddy! I am very grateful to have been blessed with you as a father. I love you.

I ran into Larry Dean at Walmart a few days ago and he says that Lovell Blair’s foot is doing some better, thankfully. Lois hasn‘t been doing too well herself. I think the world of them and hope the best for both.

Roger Whitaker, or Uncle Rod as I call him, fell and broke his ankle in two places. The doctors are saying it will require surgery. Bless his heart. His luck is about equal to mine. We are both clumsy as a cow on crutches. We love you, Rod, and hope that you are back on your feet real soon.

I hear that Beverly Adams isn’t feeling well. I hope she feels better real soon. She is a sweet lady.

Opal and David’s grandbabies, Allen and Jessica Jent’s kids, are in from Madisonville for the week. They are spending time with Jessica’s mom and grandma. I hope to get to visit with my precious babies a while before they go back. I missed out last time.

Missy and Wayne Fields’s and Deidra and Sammy Gibson’s families spent the past week at camping at the campground over at Litt Carr. We visited with them a few evenings. The kids always have the best time playing on the playground and making s’mores.

Chalena and Robbie Williams and kids spent a few days in Myrtle Beach this past week. It looked like a lot of fun from the photos.

Greg and Jayane Lynch had a big furry visitor last week. A black bear was going for a stroll near their house. I hear that several of their neighbors saw it as it was making its rounds also. My nephew Austin and his friend Ricky came across it while riding four-wheelers on the top of the mountain that same evening. I don’t mind seeing pictures on trail cameras or seeing one way off in the distance, but I don’t want an up close and personal run-in with one.

June meeting, the memorial at the Whitaker Cemetery on Johnson’s Fork at Premium, was held this past weekend. Mom said there were several that attended, but not near as many as in the past.

Good luck and safe travels to the LCCHS archery team. They will be participating in the World Championship in Madison, Wis.

Annie West and Jordan Adams celebrated their birthdays on June 25; Bill Fleming, June 29; and Jeannette Whitaker, June 30.

Daddy, Allen Whitaker, will celebrate his birthday on July 5; Phillip Adams, July 6; and Jodi Sands, July 7.

If I have left anyone or anything out, just let me know and I will be glad you get you next time. I hope everyone has a healthy and happy week. If you would like to contact me, feel free to give me a call or you may email me at alanacouch@hotmail.com.
