Maggards mark 24th anniversary

Big Cowan

Hello everyone! Hoping all are well.

Seems like my family is on the mend. At least they are all home from the hospital. Still lots of doctor’s appointments. Praying they all will be well soon.

Sorry I did not have anything in the paper last week. I was just brain dead and could not think of anything.

Bill and Paula Maggard were married 24 years on Feb. 27. Congratulations.

Late birthday wishes: Jeanne Mullins Adams, Feb. 27; Debbie Eldridge and Jean Banks Poisel, Feb. 28, and Winter Aubrey Jefferson was 1 year old Feb. 28; Audrey Maggard Hammonds Archie Joe Maggard, March 1; Lexie Fields turned 10 on March 2; Paul McIntosh (UPS Man), and Barb Wagner Bruner, March 3; Elmo Day was the big 90 on March 4.

Happy birthday to all of them.

My beautiful granddaughter, Michaela Dawn Fields, will be the big Sweet 16 on March 9. Nana loves you and hard to believe her baby girl is 16 now. Hoping you have a great day. Wish I could be there.

Jamie Maggard has a birthday on March 9, also. Happy birthday.

Carol Lewis of Cumberland has a birthday March 10. Hoping you have a healthy day.

I made a mistake in the paper a few weeks ago. My aunt, the late Mary Ellen Fields Blaken, would have been 71 April 19, not Feb. 19. Sorry for the mistake. Thanks, Uncle Isom Fields, for correcting me. They will bring her back to North Carolina for a memorial service then.

In memory this week and last week: Bill Maggard Sr. would have been 75 on March 3, miss our old UK buddy, or my son Mike would say his IU buddy (Bobby Knight).

Heather Day Griffie died four years ago on March 4. I still miss her sweet, smiling face. Elmer Fraley, 2 years ago March 3; and Allen Pack, 3 years ago, March 9.

A new business, Turner’s Discounts, opened last week at Ermine. It’s open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Stop in and see the variety of things they have and then leave with Hunt’s Brothers Pizza. They are beside Golden Apple, and about ½ mile from Messenger Florist, owned by Tammy and Wayne Turner. They are the same ones who do the Santa Truck Train in Letcher County. Telephone will be hooked up in a few days. Tell them I said hi, and if they do not treat you good — let me know. But I am sure you will be treated well.

Prayer list this week: Glenda Jean Miles, Glenn Miles, Pat King, Melinda “ Kay- Kay” Daniel, Mike Fields, Archie and Margaret Fields, Fred Frazier, Brack Sexton, Irene and Eugene Day, Agnes Maggard, Shelia Younce Hogan, Judy Younce Rose, Kathy and Eddie Wolfe, Audrey and Charles Hammonds, Amber Fields, Sonia Fields, all the shut-ins, homeless, hospital and nursing home patients, drug addicts, alcoholics, all the lost, and pray for the churches and pastors, they are coming into very tough times with decisions they are having to make.

My granddaughter Ashley Fields is having surgery. Keep her in prayer.

Remember all my friends, neighbors and family. Pray that spring will get here soon. No more snow until next winter, please.

Time to go before the freezing rain/ sleet and snow starts. Have a good week, attend the church of your choice and keep someone in prayer.
