A 20-year-old Letcher County man has pleaded guilty to robbing a Little Colley grocery store last September.
Roger Allen Miles pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second-degree robbery, which is a class C felony, on April 16 in Letcher Circuit Court.
Kentucky State Police say Miles flourished a small caliber handgun and demanded that Anna Maggard, co-owner of Maggard’s Grocery, remove money from the cash register around 2:51 p.m. on September 15. Maggard’s Grocery is located beside KY 1148 in the Little Colley community.
According to court documents, Miles covered his face with a bandana before committing the crime. When confronted by another employee, Miles fled the store on foot. Miles was found and arrested on a charge of firstdegree robbery.
If Letcher County Circuit Judge Sam Wright follows recommendations in the plea agreement, Miles will receive a sentence of seven years imprisonment. He will also be ordered to pay a fine of $1,000 and $130 in court costs.
The plea agreement was reached between Anna and Gurney Maggard, Letcher County Commonwealth’s Attorney Edison Banks, Miles and his attorney James W. Craft II.
Sentencing is set for May 23 in Letcher Circuit Court.
