A 22-year-old Letcher County man may serve as much as five years in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping and assaulting the mother of his child.
Nathan Blake Bentley, 22, of 3056 Hwy. 7 South, Jeremiah, pleaded guilty on Jan. 6 to entering the home of Angel Bentley on April 25, 2009 with the intent to commit a crime. Bentley restrained Mary McCool in an automobile, which he drove into a lane of oncoming traffi c in an attempt to cause a collision, injuring McCool.
Bentley pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary, kidnapping, wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault.
Letcher Commonwealth’s Attorney Edison G. Banks II said Bentley’s plea agreement includes a maximum prison sentence of 10 years with five years probated. Bentley will receive 74 days jail credit.
As part of the agreement, Bentley must enroll and successfully complete an anger management treatment program approved by his probation officer. Bentley must obey all court orders concerning custody, visitation, child support and communications with Ms. McCool.
Bentley must pay a supervision fee of $15 a month and a drug testing fee of $10 per month while on active supervision in addition to paying $130 in court costs to the Letcher circuit clerk’s office.
