Funeral services were held Friday for a Partridge man who died Oct. 4 from complications from injuries he received in a motorcycle wreck on Pine Mountain.
David Travis McDaniels, 40, was traveling south on U.S. 119 toward Partridge around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 when he ran off the roadway and hit an embankment, according to Kentucky State Police Trooper Adam Hall.
McDaniels was flown by a helicopter from the Pine Mountain overlook to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. He was later transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington where he died.
McDaniels, who was graduated from Whitesburg High School in 1990, enjoyed working on cars, riding his motorcycle and spending time with family and friends.
He was a son of Barbara Church and Ronnie Sumpter, both of Oven Fork, and the late David Dwight McDaniels.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Damon Sumpter of Eolia; two sisters, Amy Sumpter Sexton of Eolia and Lorie Sumpter Murphy of Ermine; his grandparents, Linuel and Marilyn Sumpter of Oven Fork; two nieces, and four nephews.
Everidge Funeral Home had charge of funeral arrangements.
