Man harassed witness in drug case, police say

A 58-year-old Neon man has been charged with harassing an informant in a felony drug case involving a former Fleming-Neon High School football coach and suspended Kentucky High School Athletics Association game official.

Police say Bruce C. Lebrun harassed the cooperating witness at the Little League ballpark in Goose Creek last week. Lebrun, of 79 Mississippi Drive, was arrested May 18 and charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process.

The informant is involved in a drug trafficking case against Joseph Jay “J.J.” Wright, 39, of McRoberts, who was arrested last month at his home and charged with trafficking in the painkiller oxycodone.

An arrest warrant on file in the Letcher Circuit Clerk’s Office says Lebrun used hand gestures to imi- tate the pointing and firing of a handgun at the cooperating witness on May 14.

A $5,000 cash bond was posted and Lebrun was released from jail on the condition that he will not have contact with the alleged victim.

Letcher County Sheriff ’s Lt. Brian Damron said more arrests related to people harassing cooperating witnesses are pending.
