Man held in copper theft employed by scrap yard

A scrap yard employee was charged with receiving stolen property after police found stolen AT&T copper telephone wiring behind his home at Colson.

Jimmy W. Cook II, 32, of 173 Ragweed Road, is accused of receiving and retaining stolen AT&T copper telephone wiring valued in excess of $500. He was also charged with possessing protective wire casing police found next to a burn pile behind his residence.

Cook was arrested January 8, and was released later that day after posting a $10,000 surety bond.

Police said Cook was an employee at Southern Steel at Isom.
