Man killed while working on car

A Goose Creek man died Saturday morning after a freak accident while working on a vehicle at his residence.

Letcher County Coroner Wallace Bolling Jr. said Michael “Mike” Lee Arnett, 37, was under a vehicle working on it when the jack fell, causing the vehicle to fall and land on Arnett’s chest.

Bolling listed suff ocation as the cause of death.

A son of James Lee Arnett and Susan Hall Arnett of Cromona, Arnett was a coal miner and enjoyed deer and coon hunting.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his fiancé, Billie Bates of Goose Creek; twin sons, Justin Bentley Arnett and Austin Bentley Arnett, both of Jackhorn; two brothers, Shelbert Arnett and wife Charlotte of Whitesburg, and Curtis Arnett and wife Kathy of Fleming; two nieces, Jamie Arnett and Leanna Arnett; and two nephews, Isaiah Sturgill and Lance Bentley.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at the Seco Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the family cemetery.

Carty Funeral Home of Fleming-Neon has charge of arrangements.
