Prayer requests are what’s on my mind more than anything else this week, so I’m starting out with some that have been mentioned on Facebook and others sent to me in private messages and still others that came over Millstone Missionary Baptist Church’s prayer line that is on Mom’s number.
The late Keith Adams’s parents are still having lots of physical problems as well as mental. His dad, Billy Adams, is scheduled to have a heart cath checking for blockages.
Then there’s Larry Everidge. He had knee surgery and developed complications afterwards. He is still in serious condition.
Prayer requests came from my friend, Debbie Collier, for her sister’s 13-year-old grandson. Camden Cook was taken to UK Monday and they were checking for leukemia.
My good friend Vickie Wampler is having trouble with her lower back and has been going to physical therapy. Please pray that this helps her get some relief.
My good friend, Denise Baker, asked prayer for her son, Caleb Baker, as he goes to the doctor on the 1st of September for some major tests to see if he will need another surgery. We praise God for the progress that Caleb has made since his accident this past summer.
Brandon Robinson is also still needing our prayers that they will be able to remove all his brain cancer.
Georgia Hall also posted on Facebook to pray for her husband, Jim Hall. He will be having knee replacement surgery Tuesday the 24th at Pikeville Medical Center.
Then the state’s COVID count being as high as it is another prayer request we should all be praying about. Still others that had the virus and recovered but still have serious health issues also need our prayers. As I’ve said before, our main concern is keeping Mom away from it. I saw on Mike Watts’s report today the count was 35 new cases. Let’s remember to pray for our schoolchildren and the entire staff that is in that network.
Also, all the flooding that has been going on in Tennessee these past few days is heartbreaking. I guess you can tell I have been watching the news too much since I’ve been here at Mom’s since Sunday. She loves to watch the news and if nothing else is on that she wants to watch she will turn it to Fox News and more than anything read the captions that are on the bottom of the screen.
Last but not least, is the state that Afghanistan is in right now. One of my nephews, Philip Graves, that was stationed there a few times, is just heartbroken. All that was done to help them he now feels was useless. I can now understand how the Vietnam veterans felt when they came back from Vietnam. The plane that took off with Afghanistan men hanging to it just goes to show how they feel about being left behind for the Taliban to rule over. Please remember the Christians there. I just can’t imagine being tortured for my faith in Jesus Christ and my salvation through Him. I certainly hope and pray the United States will be a safe haven for Christians.
Okay, a few birthdays I saw on Facebook were Eugenia Cook Sturgill, Maurice Caudill, and Vernetta Roark on the 23rd, Jacob Damron and Cheryl Hawkins on the 24th, Peggy Rose Wagner Cook and LeeAnna Hall Terry will have birthdays on the 25th, Janice Hall Vance will have her 84th birthday on the 26th, Carrie Bolling and Melissa Tyree will celebrate on the 28th, Lorraine Mullins and Scarlett Coots on the 29th, and Angie Amburgey Hampton on the 31st.
Please keep all the families in our area that have lost loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. Misty Fields lost her son Jacob earlier this year and her husband Stevie a few weeks ago. Sonny Caudill passed away Sunday the 22nd. As always I ask you to remember our pastor, Bill Jones, and his family.
The messages at our church, Letcher Independent Baptist, have been so helpful to me and my family. Our Sunday night and Wednesday night messages are more meat than milk and my good friend, Linda Buttrey, and I always talk about how we walk away fed and satisfied. If you need a place to learn how to survive in this day and age, come visit. You won’t be disappointed.
