Many attend District Association meeting

Cowan

The Eastern District Association of Primitive Baptists held its 161st annual meeting at the Blackwater Lick Church in Blackwater, Va. There was a large crowd in attendance. They enjoyed four days of wonderful fellowship, preaching, praying, singing and praising the Lord. A young man was saved at one of the evening services.

The host church served delicious lunches and made everyone feel welcome. Several members from Little Cowan and Holbrook Memorial Church at Craft’s Colly attended.

Kim Robinette of Duff- ield, Va., had several people at her home for dinner Thursday evening. Those enjoying the good meal with Kim were Carol Caudill, Linda Lucas, Doris Banks of Little Cowan, Elder Greg Hill, Elder Darrell Ratliff, Elder David Vanhoose, and Kim’s sister, Kathy.

Stella Pedigo was visiting with her sister Ella and Major Sparks, and brother Duane and Anna Yonts, this week. Her daughter Sandy came to get her. On Saturday, she, Major and Duane had a nice trip to Bad Branch Falls.

Sue asks that we continue to keep Serena Jones in our prayers.

Happy birthday to Donald Banks.

Virginia Brown had a happy surprise when her nephew, Ton Whitaker of Lawrenceburg ,and his son Ron dropped in for a visit. They are a son and grandson of Ethylin and Vernon Whitaker. They were here with other Whitaker relatives visiting the old homeplace and cemetery on Linefork.

Laura Caudill Bates and Rebecca Bates of Cowan recently visited Beth and Keith Callahan of Mocksville,

N.C. A great time was had by all. While there, they attended a Dovie County ballgame. They also visited Chandra Roberts and Beau in Charlotte.

Arminta Ison Jenkins, Yvonne Sutphin and Linda Combs spent a few days in Berea and Midway, and stayed a night at Regina Stiver’s in Frankfort. They all ate in Georgetown at ‘Fat Boys Restaurant’ with David and Jennifer Combs.

David and Jennifer had their anniversary on Sept. 28.

Robert and Regina Stines visited Linda and Bennett Combs last weekend.

Dustin and Jenna Combs celebrated their fifth anniversary in Aruba.

Linda sends late happy birthday wishes to Amber Combs, Sept. 16; Jacob Cornett, Sept. 30; his mother, Christina Bolton, Oct. 2; and Michael Finchum, Oct. 5.
