Hello everyone! Hoping all are having a good week.
I heard from Marie Boyd in Dante, Va. She had fallen again and broken her back. Keep her in prayer. She is formerly Marie Johnson of Little Cowan.
I did not know that Linda Meade Johnson had died on Aug. 31 until I read it in the Pikeville paper. She was married to Bruce Johnson. My sympathy goes to the family.
Velda Dollarhide Fraley had a Scuttle Hole Gap get-together at her house on Saturday for the ladies. Those in attendance were Jeanette Dollarhide, Linda Dollarhide Sexton, Della Maggard, Stella Maggard Bates, Mary Katherine Maggard Wilson, Irene Fields Day and Emma Day Adams, Carol Ann Fields Ison and myself.
We enjoyed chicken and dumplings and fried chicken, and several desserts. We all had a good time and shared stories of our families, Scuttle Hole Gap stories and upper Cowan School stories. It was great getting together will all of them.
The Cowan Community Center will be holding their 50-year anniversary on Oct. 25 with different speakers, a country dinner and square dancing. They invite everyone on the creek to join them and bring your ideas to them. More will be posted later. Hope everyone can attend.
In memory this week: Jeff Caudill and Fred Boggs Jr. died two years ago on Sept. 18; Tommy Day of Indiana would have been 67, and Ann McCool would have been 71, both on Sept. 18. All are gone from our homes but not our hearts.
Birthdays this week: Willis King, Monica McIntosh and Billy Ray Blair, all on Sept.18; Frieda Boggs Johnson, Inelda Seaman, Glenda Wright Moats and Rosa Halcomb, all on Sept. 20; Kendall Ison on Sept. 21; and Tammy Turner on Sept. 22.
Happy birthday to all of the above.
Happy anniversary to Audrey and Charles Hammonds on Sept. 23. They will be married 18 years. Congratulations.
What a wonderful service at church this past week. God is really moving at King’s Chapel Church, and we invite you to be with us sometime. Church is at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday. We would be glad to have you.
Late happy birthday to Priscilla Fields on Sept. 12, and Greta Fields Wilson on Sept. 14. Hoping they both had a great day.
Well folks, I’ve got to go. Until next time may God bless you and yours. Attend the church of your choice and pray for someone.
