Former Sergent resident Marie Fields Gibson, 83, of Jacksonville, Fla., died January 26 at Baptist Beaches Medical Center in Jacksonville.
A daughter of the late Le- Roy and Gertrude Breeding Fields, she was the widow of Lauville Gibson. She was the mother of the late Wanda Jo Gibson, Lucky Gibson and Sharon Lucas, a sister of the late Olivee Fields and Hedymae Henson, and a grandmother of the late Kimberly Yinger.
She was a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Bobby Gibson and wife Nancy, Knox, Ind.; Jerry Gibson and wife Debbie, Little Dry Fork; and Roy Gibson and wife Susie, Solomon; three daughters, Christine Smith and husband Ed, and DeLynn Mundy and husband Alan, all of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bernadine Blair and husband Terry Wayne, Craft’s Colly; two brothers, Joe Fields and wife Dot, Georgia, and Don Fields and wife Linda, Tennessee; five sisters, Wanda Cook, South Carolina; Janet Templeton and husband Dale, Tennessee; Dallas Prewitt and husband Carl, Michigan; Joyce Sullivan, Michigan; and Olive Craft and husband William, Tennessee; 21 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held January 31 at Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Whitesburg.
Letcher Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
