Some of this is from last week when I didn’t have a column, so just bear with me.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Randy and Mary Gail Adams who lost their daughter Cassie on Saturday, Dec. 21. Randy, Mary Gail, Maranda and all who knew little Cassie have lost a special person in their lives. She was Ray Dean and Doris Adams’s granddaughter.
George Watts spent some time in the hospital recently and upon bring released spent time during Christmas with his daughter Darlene and her family.
Rodney Ison spent a few days in the hospital before Christmas also. Hopefully he’s on the mend and feeling better.
David Adams is another who was in the hospital recently with kidney stones. He’s Allan and Reva’s son.
Irene Dixon was treated to a party to celebrate her 92nd birthday. She is a patient at Letcher Manor and they held it there.
We were all shocked to learn of the sudden death of Gerald Blair. He was a longtime Doty Creek and Jeremiah resident and had many family members and friends who came out to show support at his funeral at Blair Branch Church. He will be missed so much by all in the community, but nothing compares to the loss Cathy, Allison, the two little grandson, Larry, Ruth Ann and Brenda will feel.
Then the day after his service, Doty resident Lena Gibson died after battling cancer. Sympathy to her husband, children and family. Despite the bad weather a good size crowd attended the visitation and funeral at Jeremiah Missionary Baptist Church.
And then there was the terrible tragedy on the streets of Whitesburg that took the life of young Michael Hogg. His family has been in everyone’s thoughts and prayers and so many concerned family and friends overflowed the church at the visitation and funeral services.
Sad to write of so many who have passed away.
Coman Caudill, David Adams, Mary Helen Blair and Mark Caudill have all been having some health problems. We hope they all feel better.
Mom’s late sister Mamie Engle’s daughter Wilma Jean and her husband Virgil Smith came by to visit last week. They had visited Vince and Juanita McCrarey in Somerset before coming here and also dropped by Ivan and Freda Adams’s to check on them.
Martin and Bonnie Adams have a new granddaughter. Jane and baby Zooey are doing well and were in during Christmas.
Gillis Reedy had to get check out recently at the emergency room for kidney problems and will see a specialist soon. We hope all goes well with his appointment. Gill is well loved and respected in the Isom, Jeremiah and surrounding areas.
As I finish it’s supposed to be bitter cold and we have a couple inches of snow. Stay warm and safe.
