Mavis Cornett Miniard, 82 of Gordon, died October 13 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
She was a daughter of the late Kermit and Susie Huff Cornett.
She was retired from the Letcher County Board of Education at Kingdom Come School after 36 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Lynn Fields and husband Billy Darrell, and Labraida Sparkmon and husband Glenn, all of Gordon; five grandchildren, Stanley Fields and wife Katina of Partridge, Chris Lewis and wife Misty, and Brett Sparkmon, all of Gordon, Chastity Day and husband Michael of Richmond, and Tressany Howard and husband Gavin of Whitesburg; nine greatgrandchildren, Braxton and Sawyer Fields, Rylee and Allee Lewis, Avery and Jonah Day, and Haley, and Garrett, and Lainey Howard; a sister, Ruby Jean Roark of Gordon; and a brother, Darrell Cornett and wife Sandi of Brandenburg.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, in Benham. Burial will follow in the Joe Cornett Cemetery at Gordon.
