Whitesburg Mayor James W. Craft has been named to the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) board of directors.
Craft was appointed July 14 to fill the remainder of Jackson Mayor Mike Miller’s unexpired term. Craft will fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term, which will expire in September 2011. Craft will then be eligible for additional terms on the board of directors. The board of directors provides policy recommendations to the KLC executive board and focuses on legislative issues.
“I’m just honored that of all of the cities east of Lexington they chose me to represent this region on their board,” said Craft. “It gives the City of Whitesburg the opportunity to network with other cities and it brings some additional recognition to our town.”
The association, which consists of 400 cities and municipalities, provides advocacy, assistance and resources.
