Whitesburg Mayor James Wiley Craft told the city council on Tuesday that he is receiving radiation and other treatments for bladder cancer in Lexington.
Craft told the council he is about halfway through his course of treatment, and his doctors are hopeful that he will make a complete recovery. Craft said his doctors have told him that bladder cancer is one of the most treatable kinds of cancer and he has a very favorable outlook. He said he has been staying in Lexington during his treatments and will continue to do so until they are complete, and then he will return home. He added that City Clerks Donna Perkins and Jessica
Keene have done a yeoman’s job of keeping things going and keeping him informed.
Council members all said they will pray for a full and complete recovery and Craft asked for prayer from citizens as well. He said when he returns, the council will resume regular monthly will be meetings by Zoom.
