James ‘Bud’ McElroy, 76, died April 8 at his home on Millstone.
Born in Leatherwood to the late James Wood and Ethel Mullins McElroy, he was a brother of the late Opal Mason, Pauleen Mason and Dorothy Jean Johnson.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Charlene Bentley McElroy; three sons, Jeff McElroy and wife Tina of Payne Gap, Keith McElroy and wife Joanne of Millstone, and Brian McElroy and wife Michelle of Winchester; seven grandchildren, Melena McElroy Outlaw and husband Bruce of Jenkins, Mandy McElroy Stamper and husband Billy of Whitesburg, Jonathon McElroy and wife Brandie, and Matthew McElroy and wife Leah, all of Millstone, and Bradley Stidham, Brittany Stidham and Jacob McElroy, all of Winchester; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Evelyn Bentley, Brenda Fields and Jeanette Cook; and four brothers, Larry McElroy, Donald McElroy, Bob McElroy and Emmett McElroy.
Funeral services were held April 10 at Letcher Funeral Home in Whitesburg. Burial was in Riley Bentley Cemetery at Dean.
