Woodie McKinney, 86, of Lexington, died December 21 at Pine Meadows Health Care Center in Lexington.
Born in Blackey to the late Sampie and Mary Evans McKinney, he had worked as an electrician, and was a member of the Fleming Baptist Church.
He served in World War II with the 101st Airborne Division, and parachuted into Normandy in the DDay Invasion.
He was the father of the late Nettie Lou Hogg, and a brother of the late Nan Lou Webb.
Surviving are his wife, Billie McKinney; a son, Sam McKinney and wife Ingrid, Elliottville; three grandchildren, Shane, Ashley and Jasarae; and two sisters, Mae Wood Adams, Denver, Col., and Gaynelle McKinney, Morgantown, W.Va.
Funeral services were held December 23 at Fleming Baptist Church. Burial was in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens at Big Stone Gap, Va.
Carty Funeral Home of Neon had charge of arrangements.
