Kristie Collett is the new principal at McRoberts Elementary School and has begun a flurry of studentoriented events and reward programs. The school has started an Accelerated Reading Program (AR) that will allow the kids to earn points for a reward trip to Kentucky Kingdom.
Collett and her staff have redecorated the library with a special reading lounge just for the students. Even more kid friendly are the brag boards displaying student work, a hallway of success, and the ecstatic culture spreading throughout the building.
Collett said, “I want my school to the best, and we will be. The students, teachers, and parents are determined to jump on board for what is best for the kids. Anytime you have those ingredients, you can make up the recipe for an exceptional place to learn. I want my kids to enjoy being here, to look forward to lessons planned, or having that reading time to pick up their favorite AR book.”
