The Meade brothers are the sons of the late Boyd and Alma Meade of Whitaker. Charles Meade celebrated his 76th birthday, Benjamin is 71 years old and Curtis is 70 years old.
Charles lives in Jenkins. He is retired from Bethlehem Steel with 20 years in the coal mines. Benjamin retired with 43 ½ years as mine foreman. Curtis was in the Army in Vietnam in the 1969 combat zone. Curtis lives at Whitaker and stays in Chicago most of the time.
In the late 1960s, Charles and Benjamin went to work in a Chicago steel mill and then came back home to work in the coal mines.
The brothers say, “We all three thank God for all birthdays. See, we know what it is to have nothing, but God has blessed us to live this long. Read the Book of Daniel and Romans.”
